Canon Abilities/Powers: The Trauma Series is known for being a game with alien parasites made by Bio-terrorists with the intent of destroying all of mankind. However, that's not the case in Trauma Team where everything is more grounded in reality and the surgeon does not have witchcraft magic star bull going on.

Maria isn't a Surgeon in the game anyway. Instead, she's the Paramedic. She's the first to the scene and the first applying treatment to stabilize any and all injured individuals. As her tagline says, the first moments are the most critical, making her job all the more important. Unlike an EMT, her job includes more invasive aid with abilities going to inserting intravenous lines, performing tracheotomy, releasing trapped air in the chest cavity, administering advanced medicines, viewing lab results, basic diagnosis, sutures, etc. It makes her position pretty hectic and her life even more so.

Her strength isn't anything to shake a stick at either. For being ordinary, she has to occasionally lift up bodies of varying weight and height. It's nothing compared to the Orthopedics Surgeon, but it's still enough to do her work.

As for other skills, Maria is pretty nifty with various modes of transportation. She can drive an ambulance, ride her motorcycle like a boss, and fly a helicopter like no one's business.

Sunshineverse History: Maria was another one of those unfortunate enough to lose her parents during the Third War. They didn't have to die, but medical aid couldn't reach them in time. She tried her best to save them herself, but eventually, she was dragged off the battlefield. Moved into an orphanage, she spent her rebellious years between it and at the Academy, getting into fights, contesting her elders, and disappearing to be on her own a majority of the time. When she slipped away to give smoking a try, she accidentally set the orphanage on fire. Maria hurried outside with the other kids, but crying caught her attention and she rushed back in. Turned out a younger girl got trapped and became too scared to move so Maria helped her get outside. Still, she did it without thinking, but awakening to that instinct to help people made her change.

Leaving shortly after the incident, she took to living on her own and taking her Academy classes more seriously. Studying and going through all the channels, she strove to become the best Medical-nin possible; well, second next to Tsuande obviously. However, one thing that proved somewhat detrimental to this process was her attitude. Years of being frustrated with pretty much everyone around her often made her a bigger threat to her team than any enemy shinobi. It took her several tries to pass her Chuunin Exams, but her team finally found balance when she was told to focus on Taijutsu.

With her becoming exceptional at Taijutsu, one expanded their Ninjutsu and the other tackled Genjutsu, making their coordination essential. Still, because of her goal, Maria didn't allow her Ninjutsu and Chakra Control to slog off. She didn't have to, but she decided to take on and passed the Jounin exams before proceeding to go on with her medical training. With time and effort, she soon earned her position in Konohagakure's hospital.

Steadily, Maria has become the one of the go to Shinobi for missions that require Medical-nin with efficiency and speed. Though her job is to preserve life - which she'll go above and beyond in this station - Konoha is her home and she will do her duty as a Kunoichi to protect it from threats if necessary.

Sunshineverse Abilities/Powers: Maria's medical knowledge and skills is relatively unchanged except for maybe her diagnostic ability and understanding of poisons with additional ones being added mentally. With the addition of chakra and jutsus, she has learned other techniques such as Mystical Palm and Chakra Scalpel to aid injured teammates and also help her fight in direct combat. She's proven time and again to use whatever resources she has to her advantage especially environmental. An orphan has to learn to work with what she's given after all.

Appearance: Canon appearance

Maria maintains a pretty close appearance to her canon one. Dark-skinned with bright green eyes, her hair's kept short, and two faint horizontal scars appear beneath her eyes. She wears a standard pair of shorts, a tank-top which she throws her Medical-nin coat (usually unzipped) over or her Jounin vest, and sandals with guards that shield a majority of her calves. Around her waist she dons her hitai-ate like a belt. She tries to keep herself lightly dressed and indiscreet on the field so she'll generally not have her medic symbol anywhere on her. Going further with trying to blend in, her medical supplies are stored in what look like the typical shuriken/kunai/scroll bags that anyone not Maria might find weapons instead of her tools.

Personality: Maria is hot-headed down to the very definition. Confident, spirited, and temperamental, she holds her position in high regards, takes on any challenge she feels like, and becomes agitated when anyone attempts to interrupt her. It's her way or the highway usually, but she has been known to make compromises, the most vital being with her team. Bettering her Ninjutsu and Taijutsu proved to be outlets she needed, but also aided their coordination. She handled the brunt of the physical labor while someone else took care of the Genjutsu.

Her average Genjutsu ability speaks volumes about her though. Maria isn't one to be deceptive, or to mess with people mentally. She prefers being direct and handling things physically much like what's required for healing. If Genjutsu could be applied medically, hell yeah she would be lined up for learning it. She knows losing people important to her has made her difficult to get along with and she's caused a great deal of trouble to everyone trying to help her. She doesn't want other people to go through the same or make even worse decisions than her. If its in her power, she'll make sure Shinobi come back alive to return to family and friends.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

+ Intelligent - Maria has always been witty, but she isn't book dumb. From remembering hand signs to recalling very fine details of the human body, she's brilliant. Enough chakra and proper use of medical tools, those first moments for her are the most critical.
+ Excellent Chakra Control - Medical-nins have excellent chakra control and Maria is no exception. It took a while to get it together due to her anger, but she's managed.
+ Highly capable in Ninjutsu and Taijutsu - Maria is quite skilled in Taijutsu and above average with Ninjutsu skills. It can buy her and her patients time, or maintain the distance already present between her and her opponent(s).
+ Fast field aid - She's known for stabilizing Shinobi for safe transport back to Konoha, practicing by timing herself and navigating the terrain. Not only with her jutsus, but with practical intravenous insertions, suturing, or bandaging.

- Short-tempered - It doesn't take much to have Maria haul off and hit someone with butting in on her business being a major no. She'll do her best not to hit anyone from foreign lands first, but she'll still call them out if they're being a dumbass.
- Genjutsu ability is pretty average - Since Genjutsu isn't much for medical aid, she never bothered learning any advanced techniques. She's decent at defending against/breaking out of them, but don't rely on her to trap any enemy Shinobi with them.
- Teamwork Issues - Given that she grew up a few years with her team and didn't open up to many people, Maria is notoriously bad at working with others. Oh, she'll do her job and converse with new people, but she won't take orders easily from those she doesn't know/work with on a normal basis, and she'll especially hate them if they try to tell her how to do her job with an attitude that says they know better.

Prose sample: Rubbing the back of her neck, Maria inhaled before turning her head. She grinned once there was a pop and sighed. That kink has been there since earlier in the afternoon; it was a relief to finally have it gone. Today had been another long and boring day. No missions going out that needed a Medical-nin and the citizens were careful as usual. Anyway, they didn't need her popping out to save their asses.

Her nose crinkled and she snapped her arm down, coughing. Okay, that had been disgusting. Sniffing again, she gagged. That was her! Well, it had been warmer today and the wind had been absent. Not to mention she decided today was a good day to do shopping on her break.

"Well, good thing I didn't get too far then." She grinned as she stopped at the crossroad and glanced around. "Do I want to go to the public bathhouse, or shower? Heh, I think I earned a nice soak..."

Changing her course, she was off to the bathhouse... only to immediately vault over the roofs to get back to the apartment. No way was she going to rent a towel or wash tub.
