Inuzuka Hana

Name: Inuzuka Hana
Canon: Naruto
Character Journal: [personal profile] puppypile
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Birthday: April 13
Village Affiliation: Konoha
Rank: Chuunin

Canon History: Wiki
Canon Abilities/Powers: Hana has all the basic shinobi skills: transformation, clones, substitution, shuriken and kunai throwing, taijutsu. Her primary focus, though, has always been on clan techniques and medical jutsu.

Hana is an Inuzuka, and she has three canine partners. She works and fights very closely with them, and her clan's techniques typically involve transformations, soldier pills, and brute-force based tai and ninjutsu. Hana can combine with one or more of her canine partners as a multiheaded dog, she can make them into humanoid copies of herself, and they in general increase her attack power exponentially. Rapid rotation is a staple of many clan attacks, increasing the force they can apply and damage they can cause

Her sense of smell is much stronger than a normal human's, and she can also increase that exponentially by directing chakra to her nose. An Inuzuka is an excellent tracker with or without canine partners. Hana is no exception. If she were, her name could be rather embarrassing.

As a medic, Hana's chakra control is excellent, and she knows how to use it in healing. She specializes in veterinary medicine and only works on animals within Konoha, but in the field, she is able to heal humans as well using the same techniques.

Appearance: 170cm/5'7". Hana has red fang tattoos on her cheeks, a red stylized flower tattoo on her right arm, black eyes, and long straight brown hair almost always tied back in a low ponytail. Her canine teeth are a tiny bit more pointed and pronounced than most people's. Hana is thin but well-muscled, and she typically wears either a more fitted version of the flak jacket unzipped to show cleavage or a medic's uniform.

Personality: Hana is one of the calmer members of her clan, but she's still very energetic and very open with her emotions. She has strong protective instincts that extend to family, to animals, and to those younger than herself. Hana is incredibly loyal to teammates as well, and she'll jump into trouble at the drop of a hat if it means protecting them. Dogs are known for loyalty, and while Hana is not fond of some of the negative dog stereotypes applied to her clan members, she'll gladly adopt the positive ones.

Intelligent and good at focusing and working quietly, Hana was more academically inclined than certain other members of the clan, such as her brother Kiba. That was what allowed her to take advantage of her chakra control and learn medical techniques. Her motivation for doing so was to take care of the canine members of the clan, especially because veterinary specialists are not common in the field. She wanted to be able to heal her own partners as well as any of the other dogs that are as much family as her human relatives. Hana is nurturing and likes working with children and puppies. She helped look after Kiba during her mother's missions when he was younger, and she helps look after any puppies or cousins who need it now.

Hana may be good at quiet concentration, but that's only when she's working. She loves the loud, boisterous chaos of her clan. Reaching Konoha never quite feels like home till puppies and children come running by yelling and laughing or she gets in an argument with Kiba.

She has a rebellious streak and is hotheaded enough to disregard rules in favor of rushing into battle at her teammates' sides. Hana, like many in her clan, subscribes to the theory that comrades always trump tradition and regulation.

Hana enjoys flirting, is very confident in her skin, and has no hesitation when it comes to short-term or casual relationships. It's the long-term ones that make her wary, given her father's absence. She dresses practically but often in a way that calls attention to her body, and she expects people to notice.

Hana is blunt, straightforward, and will always be honest rather than polite. She usually has enough tact to know when talking is a bad idea, particularly in a professional capacity, but she never reins in what she wants to say around people she considers safe: family, friends, and much of Konoha's population.

Sunshine Abilities/Powers: Hana's skillset remains pretty much the same.

I'd like to add in headcanon that Inuzuka also have heightened sense of hearing, though not nearly as powerful as their noses.

Sunshine History: Hana's core history remains largely the same. Heir to the Inuzuka clan, she's very close to her clan members and their canine partners. The Inuzuka clan is not a particularly formal one, and being the heir never set Hana apart from her cousins. She was treated just like any other child in the clan, its elder members watching, teaching, or scolding as needed, its younger members playing with her. A few extra lessons and meetings were the only real differences in her upbringing.

She got the Haimaru triplets (Mikai, Haru, and Baishi) before entering the academy. Her mother, Tsume, was at first reluctant to let her daughter take on responsibility for training with three familiars rather than one. Tsume eventually relented after Hana argued that the three worked so well together, and she'd bonded with them so well when helping out around the kennels, that it would be a shame to separate them. The brothers are close, and Hana insisted that it would do them a disservice to send them separate ways to partner with different shinobi. Hana knows that her mother only let her have her way because Hana was right. No one in the clan indulges their youngsters at the expense of a canine's wellbeing.

Hana graduated from the academy at the usual age and made chuunin in 2 years. The first of those years was caution on her sensei's part, and then Hana was not promoted following her first exam. She lost her temper when one of her dogs was injured and stopped thinking as strategically as a chuunin ought to. Hana's next exam went much better.

She is a medic nin specializing in veterinary medicine. Hana regularly takes hours in the clinic in Konoha. She is about the middle of their ranks in terms of chain of command. Initially, her superiors wanted her to gain more experience. At the moment, she is not being promoted largely because she is not willing to give up running frequent missions out of the village.

Hana spends whatever time she can working with young members of the clan, canine and human, when she isn't at the clinic, training, or out on missions. She hasn't had quite the same motivating factors when it comes to her abilities in peacetime as she might have had with the Sand-Sound invasion and subsequent unrest. Her focus is more narrowed on family and friends than the village as a whole right now.

She has not yet made jounin. Hana wants to be good at her job, and she spends a lot of time working on medical techniques and sparring with clan members, but she will need a little more of a push for improvement here than she did canonly. There isn't quite the same sense of urgency. She thinks she might want to be a jounin sensei someday, but doesn't seem to be in any rush to make the requisite rank. Hana has enough on her hands with clan youngsters for now.

Hana doesn't currently have a consistent team, her genin team having gone separate ways after making chuunin. She serves as a tracker or medic as needed for other teams.

Prose sample: ...Here are some old threads. 1 and 2

Missive Sample: [Missions are the perfect occasion for Hana to boss around her younger sibling from another country.]

Kiba, I want you to check in on the puppies. I know you've been taking shifts with the new ones. Any of them looking good as potential ninken? Mom says our most rambunctious cousin is ready for a partner soon, so she and I'll both want your opinion. [She seems casual and enough despite the fact that she's reporting in late. Whether Hana is trying to keep her mission confidential and avoid worrying her brother or whether it's genuine is anyone's guess.]

My mission's running long. Stop by the clinic and let them know I can't do my shifts on Monday or Tuesday. I'll check in there when I get home.
